Should the Buyer, after having paid the deposit, decide against purchasing the kitten/cat, deposit will be forfeited. Otherwise, it will be applied towards the total sale price of the kitten chosen.

The Colored Scottish Cattery reserves the right to choose any kitten from any given litter.

The Colored Scottish Cattery reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel this contract at any time before the delivery of the kitten/cat. In that case, the full deposit amount will be returned to the buyer.

The kittens’ costs vary. British and Scottish kittens are between $1,500-$4,500. The prices depend on the features and quality of the kittens. The balance is due when the kitten is picked up or shipped to you. Shipping costs are separate.

Kittens who decease within one-year after purchase as a clear outcome of congenital disease will be replaced should the congenital disease as a cause of death be confirmed by an autopsy performed by a licensed veterinarian. The Colored Kingdom Cattery does not extend this policy to cats diagnosed with genetic disease, feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), feline leukemia virus (FeLV), and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).

Replacement cats will be comparable quality and cost. Replacement cats are issued at the discretion of the breeder.

The Buyer needs to be aware that Scottish breed is prone to OCD (Osteochondrodysplasia), which is a developmental abnormality that affects cartilage throughout the body. It is this that causes the abnormal ear shape in Scottish fold cats. Its effects in other parts of the body, especially the limb bones, are much more serious, causing severe distortion of limb bone shapes and severe arthritis. Veterinarians have concluded that all cats with folded ears develop osteochondrodysplasia. In cats which are homozygous for the abnormal gene (ie having two copies of it), a progressive, crippling arthritis develops early in life whilst in those which are heterozygous (with only one mutant gene), the arthritis tends to progress more slowly. In order to reduce the severity of this condition, we never breed two Scottish Folds. Our Scottish kittens are the result of a Scottish Fold and Scottish Straight pairings which makes them heterozygous (with only one mutant gene). Other health conditions that may affect British and Scottish cats is PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) that can worsen with low quality foods, HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) which affects the heart and hip dysplasia. Tests must be requested by the Buyer before purchase of any cat, costs are not included and must be payed by the Buyer upon request. If they were not requested and such cat develops the condition, the Colored Kingdom Cattery reserves the right to refuse replacement.

After transfer of kitten to the Buyer, all vaccination and veterinary costs are the responsibility of the Buyer. All kittens purchased as pets at the Colored Kingdom Cattery must be spayed or neutered. The kitten(s) will be registered with The International Cat Association (TICA). Spaying and neutering is required for the protection of the cats. If an interested cattery decides to adopt one of our kitties for a breeding program, documents will be required to prove the registration in TICA, FIFE or WCF. All previous stipulations apply for catteries.

By purchasing a kitten(s) from the Colored Kingdom Cattery, the Buyer agrees that said kitten(s) will never be declawed under any circumstances and conditions. Cats have claws which are an essential to feline’s lifestyle and character. When a kitten is declawed, the first joint of each toe is amputated. The pain from this procedure is present for months, and sometimes years. Cats are intelligent creatures, and there are educational alternatives, such as teaching them to use scratching posts, that can be learned. Firmly setting boundaries and rules, as well as redirecting undesirable behavior will train the cat to behave. The Colored Kingdom Cattery firmly believes declawing to be cruel, inhumane, and incapacitating for the cat. Such trauma will negatively impact your kitten’s disposition and personality.

The Buyer also agrees that said kitten(s) will be living inside the home as a member of the family. Outdoor activities are permitted only under supervision and in clean environments. The Buyer agrees not to cage kittens from the Colored Kingdom Cattery, carriers are only used for transportation to and from their home. The Buyer agrees to feed said kitten(s) with the recommended high quality foods by the Colored Kingdom Cattery. The Colored Kingdom Cattery reserves the right to refuse compensation or replacement due to health concerns if any of these policies are broken by the Buyer.
